Jul 2023 - Soundbox perform at the Young V&A opening festival
Published on Friday, 17 May 2024
Soundbox, our all-ability inclusive music collective for young musicians, performed as part of The Young V&A opening festival on Sunday 9 July. Soundbox had a blast, performing in the newly renovated museum to audiences of around 300 people to rapturous applause.
They performed their original composition ‘Rocking Around the World’. The piece was inspired by Jules Verne’s novel ‘Around the World in 80 Days.’ Soundbox use improvisation as the technique to create their own original music.
For this project they listened and responded to music from many countries around the world; the improvisations were then structured into a through composition.
The performance was part of a partnership project with Keynote Music who also performed as part of the Young V&A opening festival, featuring songs from ‘Brontë the opera’ by local composer Lisa Logan. The project was generously supported by the Foundation for Future London.
