Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and networks

We work closely with schools and regularly provide CPD training sessions when needed.

Early Years Arts and Music Network

The Tower Hamlets Early Years Arts Network provides a forum for EYFS practitioners to come together

  • to share best practice
  • learn from one another and
  • meet other EYFS practitioners working in Tower Hamlets.

We also invite external arts organisations from time to time to lead training and CPD around a particular artform.

The network explores all artforms including music, dance, drama and visual art.

This network is for anyone who works in an Early Years setting. This includes schools, nurseries, children's centres, family centres, and childminders. It doesn't matter if you're experienced in using the arts or if you're new to it.

If you would like to join the network, please email us to be added to our mailing list.

Primary Art and Design Network

This network aims to support those who teach art in primary schools. It includes curriculum leads, class teachers, and anyone interested.

Meet-ups happen at the Whitechapel Gallery every term. Primary teachers lead the sessions, which focus on a specific topic and include practical CPD activities. The network provides peer-to-peer development opportunities.

Secondary Art Network: THAT network

The Tower Hamlets Artist Teachers (THAT) network is a place where secondary school art teachers and arts organisations in Tower Hamlets can connect, collaborate and share good practices.

The network aims to promote arts education and empower art teachers to explore their own art practice. The group meets regularly throughout the year. They work together to create various art opportunities for secondary schools in Tower Hamlets. One of these opportunities is an annual 10-day exhibition that showcases student art work. You can find details about the 2023 exhibition on the THAT Network London website. Additionally, the group offers workshops for students. These workshops allow students to explore different art forms with professional artists.

The network also organises professional development sessions for teachers. These sessions give teachers the chance to be creative, explore ideas and try out different art techniques. The sessions take place outside of school hours and are hosted by the arts partners mentioned on this page.
