Project Highlights – Summer Term 2026

We’re excited to share some highlights of a few of the projects taking place this term.

Ada and the Code Crusaders

Over the last two weeks, English Touring Opera (ETO) has toured their Key Stage 2 (KS2) opera Ada and the Code Crusaders by Anna Pool to schools halls across the borough. Exploring the life, work and legacy of the world’s first computer programmer Ada Lovelace, this is a fun-filled, adventure-fuelled, participatory opera that brings out the scientist in us all.

Das Brass

In partnership with Continental Drifts, New Orleans brass band Das Brass will lead immersive live performances in primary schools across Tower Hamlets in a celebration of global musical heritage and cross pollination of cultures

Little Woodland Heights

Contemporary Music for All are bringing Little Woodland Heights to Beatrice Tate School this term. The project explores biodiversity and forest ecology through musical composition and has been redesigned for SEND settings.

Green Shoots

City of London School for Girls (CLSG) will deliver Green Shoots – A City Songbook in partnership with Tower Hamlets primary schools this summer. The project will explore themes of nature, sustainability, and climate change through folk songs from around the world, culminating in an outdoor performance in the City of London.

Primary Big Sing

Spitalfields Music will return with another Primary Big Sing project, featuring over 300 children from across Tower Hamlets primary schools, culminating in a performance at Tower Hamlets Town Hall in July.

This term will also feature partnership projects with London Youth Choirs, Education & Bass, Lights Camera Score, the YEP project, East London Music Group, London Symphony Orchestra, St Paul’s Cathedral and VOCES8 Foundation.

Water Songs: from Bangladesh to the Thames

On Tuesday19 May, join 200 children from across Tower Hamlets for a joyful celebration of English and Bengali folk traditions, inspired by Bangladesh’s river songs and East London’s maritime past. Featuring Bengali folk songs, English sea shanties, and newly composed songs, the performance will be led by singers Jessica Summers and Sohini Alam, with live music from British-Bengali band Khiyo and local tabla students, delivered by THAMES and World Heart Beat.
