My Work Experience at the Musical Creatures Concert
See the event flyer here:

Hello,
I am a year 10 student doing my work experience at THAMES, and will be sharing my amazing experience of helping set up and attend the 'Musical Creatures' concert on Thursday at Trinity Buoy Wharf.
The day was action-packed from beginning to end, starting with arranging chairs for our future audience while the production team set up in the background. The members of the band, Khiyo, started arriving shortly after. Hearing the rehearsal music truly helped in experiencing joy during the task of setting up for the large number of performers, yet to grace us with their skills.
Slowly, but surely, the young students started trickling in, bringing with them a hustle and bustle the Chain Store lacked prior to this. After the second rehearsal with the students, and a separate one for the upcoming tabla players, the doors were finally opened for the awaiting audience.
The concert started with a fantastic song from Khiyo, leading into the stellar performance of the primary schools choir, lead by Jessica Summers. Their blend of English and Bengali lyrics were a joyful celebration of the real and imaginary creatures; the elusive golden deer, the underwater garden of the octopus and the terrifying 'Chopper'!
Next, were the breathtaking tablas, with two groups of secondary students lead by the tabla player of Khiyo: Hassan Mohyeddin. They absolutely took the audience along with them during their melody.
Following this performance was the exhibition of the paper lamps made by primary school students with the help of artist Tony Hayward. These lamps were fragile and were quite a struggle to help set up safely. Thankfully, listening to the artist and being patient helped set the lamps up without a hitch. The lamps used layers of coloured paper to depict scenes from the songs 'The Octopus's Garden', and the 'Chopper'.
The concert ended with a final song from Khiyo about the traditional dress of the sari with Sohini Alam's spectacular vocal performance throughout.
The THAMES Team would like to thank this student for all her support during this event, she did an amazing job especially making all of the pupils and teachers feel welcome, and helped set up the lanterns with Tony Hayward.
Musical Creatures was produced and delivered by THAMES and World Heart Beat, as part of its Trinity Buoy Sounds project.
Schools that took part were: Ben Johnson Primary School, Seven Mills Primary School, Sir William Burrough Primary School, St Pauls Way Trust School and Bow School.
