THAMES Celebration Concert 2024

The THAMES Celebration Concert will feature a range of ensembles from across our annual programme of primary music making including various instrumental groups, our Children’s Choir and the THAMES Awards Orchestra. 5:45 – 7pm

Exchanging Notes

This concert will feature young musicians from Tower Hamlets Youth Orchestra and Stepney All Saints Steel Pan Ensemble. It will also see the culmination of two partnership projects – Lights, Camera, Score in partnership with Little People Big Noise in which students have composed their own score to an animated film; and Exchanging Notes, * in partnership with Grand Union Orchestra where 100 young musicians from Tower Hamlets secondary schools, THAMES Wind Band and Soundbox inclusive ensemble will premiere their newly devised piece inspired by the diverse musical cultures of Tower Hamlets. *Exchanging Notes has been made possible by funding from the London Music Fund, supported by The Karlsson Játiva Charitable Foundation, through the Signature programme for the advancement of the art of music. 7.00-8.30pm

Songs That Move Us

Songs That Move Us takes dance as the central theme, exploring how the different rhythms and beats in songs inspire us to move as well as to sing. This sharing performance will feature around 250 children from Tower Hamlets primary schools performing English and Bengali songs and dances learned and created during the project. This project is a collaboration between THAMES, South Asian dance company Akademi, classical singer Jessica Summers and British/Bangladeshi singer Sohini Alam with members of her band Khiyo. 12.45-1.30pm
